Moving north to GA, we visited a few bikeable beach islands (Jekyll & St. Simons). We stayed at the Coastal Georgia RV Resort. near Brunswick. From this location you can visit the two coastal islands just to the east.

This is the afternoon view from the Jekyll Island pier. Visiting this island required you to pay a toll ($10) to visit each time. This was a very unique island that wasn't overly commercial and had some interesting history exhibits.

Jekyll Island is a small island that has a bike trail that essentially traverses the entire island. We rode the whole trail and were able put in a little over 21 miles. This picture was taken near the square where we visited the Irish Wee Pub for a refreshment break.

Part of the trail system rides through wooded oak forests with the common moss hanging from the trees.

As you ride through this town, you see very little new building going on. This island has been able to avoid hurricanes for over 100 years and most of the homes look like they were built in the 70's with very few on stilts as you may expect to see at the beach. Here, the Horton House has a much deeper history.

Here the trail traverses a swampy area with a view of the bay to the left.

On the northern end of the island, we did have a short stretch of trail that was overcome by shifting sands where we had to walk for a few feet. We ended our ride this afternoon by visiting Tortuga Jacks, a tiki bar right on the beach.

As much as we enjoyed Jekyll Island, we enjoyed riding through St. Simons just as much. St. Simons had a bunch of great restaurants, especially ones serving seafood of course. Here we rode our bikes to eat at Brogens, Iguanas, and Barrier Islands Brewing. We had several more restaurants here we wanted to visit, but ran out of time and budget.
