About an hour south of Minneapolis, we moved down to stay at Kamp Dels to ride the Sakata Singing Hills State Trail. Kamp Dels was very much a family resort and a child's dream with a waterpark and activities all day. We just happened to be there over the 4th of July and they packed us in there like sardines.

Across the lake from the campground was the Lake Sakatah State Park. The trail goes right through the park.

One afternoon we decided to ride a boat instead of bikes and took a cruise across the lake on a pontoon. The campground had a variety of non-motorized watercraft included in your stay, but this motorized vessel did cost a very reasonable fee for the afternoon.

This island in the lake was home to a flock of birds that I was not familiar with, but they seemed to be nesting here and certainly owned the place.

Although we were not waterfront, we could see the water of Lake Sakatah from our site. This was also the first campground where multiple announcements were blasted over a loudspeaker system for all to hear. The announcer called himself the "Silver Bullet". This reminded me of being on a cruise to hear notifications of what activity was happening next that day. Bike riding training is almost complete after 2,000+ miles for the year, so RAGBRAI hear we come! Get ready for real-time Facebook updates from RAGBRAI later this week!!!
