After staying in central FL, we moved over to the east side of FL to visit the historic St. Augustine area. We stayed at the St. Augustine Beach KOA that was just a couple of blocks from the beach and close to the downtown of the city of St. Augustine.

A great place to see history, here we are at the Castillo De San Marcos that has stood guard for the area for longer than 450 years ago. Although the fort changed hands a few times, it was never taken over by enemy forces.

Another bit of history is located at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum where many exhibits are on site to see more about the history of the city.

This stairway design on our way to the top was almost identical to the design used in the Outer Banks lighthouses we toured in NC.

On top, you get a panoramic view of the nearby waterways, ocean, and the city.

This is a view out my kitchen window in our campground. This campground wasn't real large, but was centrally located to many of the areas we visited and had plenty of tree cover making my Starlink difficult to find clear sky (but it worked).

One of our bike rides we took was on the Palatka to St. Augustine State Trail. This ride we were able to get in 38 miles with a break here in Palatka at the Uncork & Unwind Craft Beer and Wine Lounge.

Another ride near us was the Flagler Beach to Marineland Trail along the coast over two rides for a total of 42 miles. Both trails were in fully paved and in good condition.

Old St. Augustine has many restaurants and shops and here we had dinner at the Columbia Restaurant. Taking a walk through the historic downtown district is a must do with history, restaurants, and shops all accessible by vehicle free roadways.
