Continuing our trek westward, we stopped in Richmond, IN to ride the Cardinal Greenway which is yet another HoF Rail Trail on our bucket list. We stayed at the Natural Springs Resort just across the state line in New Paris, OH. This place had a small lake with beach, but wasn't open yet for swimming. The sites were decent sized and level and the location was not too far from the trailheads.

We rode the trail from Richmond to Gaston which was about 61 miles each way making it the longest Rail Trail in Indiana.

On day 1, we rode 59 miles out and back starting in the southernmost trailhead south of Richmond. This fully paved trail had many trailheads with facilities and was fairly rural in most areas.

As with most rail trails, this one had trestle bridges too, although not as many as the ones we have done recently.

On the way into Muncie on day 2, you ride over one of the old bridges they preserved. This day we rode 48 miles out and back.

Here in Muncie (largest town) we stopped at the Elm Street Brewery for a refreshing break.

This is an example of one of the many trailheads that you could park to join the trail or rest on your way passing through.

I wouldn't call this a real tunnel, but it was probably the largest one on this trail. It is nice to cross the roads either under or over them instead on grade.

This rail trail had an unusual large number of these signs along the trail. This one was in worse condition than most. These were used by train conductors to know when to blow the "W"histle when coming into an oncoming intersection.

Most of the trail was shaded and protected from winds.

If you look at the top, we did not take the on-road segment to Marion choosing to stay on the safer rail trails only. Next stop we head to Cincinnati to ride another HoF Rail Trail.
