Before embarking on RAGBRAI, we took final prep rides on the popular Root River rail trail near Lanesboro, MN. This trail is not a Hall of Fame trail, but probably should be one. We stayed at the Eagle Cliff Campground that was near the trail while we were there.

This trail is 42 miles long and also connects to the Harmony-Preston trail that adds an additional 17 miles.

This rail trail rides through several towns with brew pubs/bars along the way. Here in Lanesboro, I stopped for a refreshment at Sylvan Brewing. I'm by myself on this ride because Michelle went down to Iowa to help Zack recover from his hip surgery for a few days.

This rail trail is fully paved and is in pretty good condition.

Most of the trail is shaded, but there are some areas out in the sun.

Most of the trail is flat, but there are uphill grades when riding the western and southern ends.

Most of the trail follows the scenic Root River with many bridges along the way.

Now we head to Iowa to ride RAGBRAI LI, so stay tuned for my next blog post.
