Continuing our winter tour of Arizona, we head to the west side of the state to stay at Lake Havasu Islander Resort in Lake Havasu City. Below is a photo of the actual London Bridge purchased and moved from London starting in 1968. This bridge connects the island we stayed on to the mainland. This place reminded me so much of all the beach towns we had stayed at last year.

We didn't ride our bikes very long distances while we stayed here, but there was a nice 3 mile bike trail loop just outside the resort where you could get some riding miles and riding to the bridge area was easy and close. Here by the bridge are several commercial businesses typical of a tourist beach area (restaurants, shops, boat rentals, lake cruises, etc.).

This is a warm place with temperatures rarely freezing and average highs over 100 from June to Sept. When we were here in November, temps averaged highs in the mid-70s. This beach was in the state park along a trail we hiked.

The state park also had a camping option I had not seen before that I thought was interesting. They had cabins with co-joined full hookup RV spots so families could come and have plenty of room to sleep and roam.

Something also unique we found is that there are 28 replica lighthouses around the lake that copy some of the more prominent lighthouses across the country.

One of the days here we ventured south for another great experience. Miles into the mountain desert down a dirt road near Parker is the Desert Bar where live music acts play on the weekend. This place was very isolated and had no cell service, only solar power, and trucked in water, but was not limited in services in any way.

They had bars and a restaurant to keep you refreshed while the music played. I think they are only open in late fall and during the winter on weekends.

We also took advantage of many of the hiking opportunities around here.

This hike through these canyons was from the Sara Park Trailhead, that basically takes you down multiple trails to the lake.

When you get to the lake there is a nice view of a lake cove.

Sunsets here were also very colorful. After here, we go to Mesa (Phoenix area) for a few weeks for more things to do.
